It's that time of year again, the idiots have come out to do their Holiday Shopping. Normally this is not problem, but it does become one if you happen to live in a Major Metropolitan Area. So for this reason, I have made up list of "Holiday Shopping Etiquette/Rules", or what ever you wanna call em.
You may know someone who needs these rules. Or you might want to have a look. Whatever the case maybe, please pass on these following guidelines to as many people you know. The following suggestions are in no particular order, just as they come off the top of my head.
- Treat others as you want to be treated. I don't care if your a Grandma, if you want to act like a jerk, expect to be treated like a jerk in return. And on the flip side, if you don't like dealing with people, then get out of the retail business. So remember: Be Nice
- It is not the fault of the store clerks if an item is sold out, they do not control the amount of stock they receive from the distributors. The world does not revolve around you.
- After you have been checked out, move out of the line to look over your receipt. All you have to do is just step aside and let the line continue to move.
- If the Item you buy requires extra accessories (memory cards, batteries, controllers, things of that nature), buy them now. Why? Because it will really suck on Christmas Day and little Timmy Needs that "Rechargeable Battery Pack" for his car, and then you come in to your favorite store the next day and they are all sold out, everywhere. And then they will tell you it won't be back in stock until February. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
- For those of you who like to write checks, you are one of the reasons the check out lines are slowed down. There is a fabulous invention called a "Check Card". Do us all a favor and get one. But if you still insist on writing checks, do not wait until everything is checked out and then start digging it out of your bag, have the courtesy to have it in you hand (with your ID) and filled out so all you have to do is write in the amount.
- After you have checked out, don't be an ass and leave your basket in the check out lane, move it to a location where it does not cause traffic to build.
- If there is an "Express Line" (10 items or less), don't be a jerk with your basket-full of junk and get in it. That line is for people who have a few items.
- Check and then Double Check the price of the Item you are getting. Just because you have found an item on the shelf marked with an incredibly low price, does not make it so. People are always picking stuff up and then just putting it where ever they feel like, usually in the incorrect spot.
- Try to do more shopping online, most of the time you can find better prices and free shipping.
I'm pretty sure some have slipped my mind at this time, so if you know any I have forgotten and wanna add more to the list, feel free to add them in the comments.
