My grandmother is about to have Heart Surgery so I just wanted to say, Be brave.. You'll be alright. We love your and are praying for you. I'll see you soon.

So last Friday I left my cave and me and a buddy (my Brother was to tired to go) of mine headed over to Sue Ellen's in Dallas to Check out "Girl in a Coma" for a second time this summer. Essentially it was a free show, you just had to pay the cover charge to get in the bar. Like nerds though, me and my buddy showed up so early that not only was the bar pretty much empty, but there was no cover charge to get in. So we ended up just playing Pool to kill time before the show started.
On a side note, on my way back to the Pool Table coming from the bar, I saw Nina (of Girl in a Coma) walking across the stage area kinda struggling with two guitar cases. So I did what any gentleman/fanboy would do, I asked if she needed help. Sure enough she did, so she directed me to head out to the back where the Band Van was parked. So me and my buddy put on our "Roadie" hats and helped Jenn, Phanie, and Nina unload their equipment from their van and carry them out to the stage area. Good Deed for the day Done!!
So… Sue Ellen's. What a very nice bar. Bar and stage downstairs. Another two bars and lounges upstairs. The good new for me is that it's catered to, and was full of lovely ladies. But as the saying goes "Water, water, everywhere and not a drop to drink." Yep, my "ma-cheese-mo" was completely useless in that place because all the ladies were too busy making out with each other than to notice little ol' me. I think I discovered the hell I will be going to if I ever die.
Yes back to the show. If I remember correctly the show started around 10pm and opened with the local Punk band "Screaming Red". At the time I had never heard of them, but after experiencing their live set, I can say that am a FAN. Phil the drummer played like a Madman. Both Daisi and Cera wailed away on their instruments. And by the Power of Greyskull, did Andrea have one hell of a stage presence. That being said, they still have some growing to do, but I can see the talent is there. They played their hearts out and put on one hell of a show. In my humble opinion they even put on a better "performance" than "GIAC". I briefly met Andrea and Daisi of "SR" after the show, both were nice and "funny" as one would expect rock star
"Girl in a Coma's" show started around Midnight. Funny thing I noticed.. while "SR" was performing, I think I, was or at least it felt like I was the only Hispanic on the floor. Fast Forward to "GIAC" coming on stage… and like magic.. dozens of Mexicans appeared out of nowhere, and somehow I got scooted all the way to the right of the stage? WTF! Anyways, Girl in a Coma, good show overall. What more can I say, Nina knocked it out of the Park, Jenn was Amazing, and Phanie was beating on those drums like they were going out of style. I am happy to report that they did play my favorite song of theirs "Pleasure and Pain" (included below for your listening pleasure). The sound/balance wasn't great at times, but that was mostly likely the bars fault. Again I briefly met the ladies after the show and of course they are very friendly to all of their fans.
So in conclusion… I had a wonderful time that night. Event though I was a fish out of water at "Sue Ellen's" I wouldn't mind going back there again (what a surprise). Both "Girl in a Coma" & "Screaming Red" rocked it hard. I thoroughly enjoyed both of their performances. They are both a fine example of Two Texas Punk Bands.. Loud, Fast, Funny, Energetic, and Entertaining! I am looking forward to the day when either of them play in D/FW again. And I would highly recommend that all fans of Punk/Rock to definitely check them out if they ever play in your neck of the woods…
As I've been just sitting here all day doing pretty much nothing, it just dawned on me that I've really been looking forward today. Or rather the end of the workday. Because once I clock out, I'm heading straight to the store and picking up "Flight of the Conchords – Season 2" that was just released on DVD today.
Since I don't have HBO I've had to wait a frustrating six months or so for this release. Okay, I have seen a few short clips of their songs, but I've stopped myself from looking for the full episodes to watch online. So, after some Gym time I'm going straight home, sit down, kick back & relax, and watch this show with much anticipation. If it's anything like the first season, I will be laughing (and singing) my ass off.
So here is just a sample of why I love this show so much.. "Carol Brown". Better known as the story of my life.

I'm super bored at work… Sitting alone in the dark with not much to do other than to kinda surf the web and listening to what music I have uploaded here on Itunes. "Money for Nothing" is always good I suppose. Even better though is that today the Company has treated everyone here to free Pizza for lunch. But I should enjoy this slow time because as I have heard.. our Holiday push will be 3 times the workload vs last years numbers. And last year I was doing 6 days a week working up to 60hrs. Fun time are coming for sure.
Do you remember your dreams?
Yes. And my Nightmares too.
I've had to wait three weeks, but now it's finally here. The "Half-Blood Prince" in IMAX!
