QotD: Only One Choice in the Cereal Aisle

If you could only eat ONE cereal for the rest of your life, which one would you pick?

Since childhood I have been in love with many different kinds of breakfast cereals. Honey Nut Cheerios, Corn Pop, Count Chocula, Peanut Butter Captain Crunch…. But if I have to pick just one right now, then it has to be Post Selects Blueberry Morning Cereal. I absolutely love this cereal, it's just so Delicious. It's got that natural corn flakes taste with the right amount of sweetness thanks to the blueberries. However, this must be a seasonal cereal because for the past few months I haven't been able to find a box of this anywhere. Yes, I have gone out of my way to shop at several different grocery stores in D/FW just to find a box. And still no luck. This really killing me.

My New Welcome Mat!

It’s Looking Good.

Yesterday I stopped by the Mechanic Shop to get the Metro's A/C Fixed. While I was there I checked out the Road Runner and took a few pics. It's coming along nice. Both the interior and exterior are almost done, have a look…

Good Morning from Gizmo & J-Lo.

It's been a while since I mentioned the Gizzard and Jello. So here we go… Gizmo's his usual Wild and Silly self. J-Lo still a Lazy Little Heifer. But due to her age she has unfortunately developed Canine Degenerative Disk Disease. She doesn't need surgery, but we have to be a bit more careful with her and keep her on medication. Don't worry, she's doing fine and still full of life.

QotD: Lost Touch

Who have you lost touch with that you'd love to talk to again?

My two childhood buddies Jason Cox and Chris Howe. In the beginning, I had just moved into the neighborhood just in time to start the 5th grade. Although we had the same Home Room, I didn't "meet" them until the 3rd day of 5th grade. Chris and Jason already good friends from the 4th grade when I came into the picture. A few days later that Saturday I just happened to run into Chris who was walking past my home. It was right there I discovered that both Chris and Jason lived less than 5 minutes from me. So for three years (grades 5-7)j, we were the Three Amigos. School, Summer, Boy Scouts, Bowling Leagues….. well you name it and we probably all did it together. But just before we went to High School Jason moved 5hrs. away. A year later I did go up and visit Jason for a week during the Summer. Chris and I stayed good friends throughout H.S. After I graduated I did leave for a year to live in England. When I did come back to D/FW to go to Art School, Chris got me a Summer Job at the Jack in the Box restaurant he was working at. Eventually I did have to quit that job and move to Dallas to go to school, but Chris and I continued to stay in touch. While I was in School, all three of us did meet up one final time at a Bowling Alley to reminisce. And a year later Chris moved on and out of state and that's when we lost touch. That was over 10 years ago…

Serenity – The Big Damn Replica

Film-Quality, Made-to-Order Replica of the Firefly-Class Transport, Serenity

Celebrated by millions of fans around the world, the titular ship

of Joss Whedon's visionary movie masterpiece, Serenity, has

existed in all its glory in digital form only – until now.

More than three years in the making, Serenity –

The Big Damn Replica, has been painstakingly crafted to be

absolutely screen-accurate in every aspect. Unlike most other

iconic ships from science fiction, Serenity was designed from

the ground up to be as realistic as possible, from her floor plan

to her construction, using real-world components and

manufacturing processes.  As one of her creators observed,

the idea was to make Serenity so real, fans could easily imagine

themselves walking her decks. With such a sense of place and

familiarity, viewers would never feel lost in this

Firefly-Class Transport.

When it came time to develop this replica, we could do no less.

Every bolt, every seam and every asymmetrical plate has been

recreated with exacting detail in this first and only screen-

accurate replica. Years of intense effort have gone into all

aspects of this model, from the sculpture taken directly from the

movie CG master files to the paint job created to match not just

the colors of the ship, but the materials as well.

Some of the features of Serenity – The Big Damn Replica:

  1. BulletOne big boat. Our Serenity measures 19"x12"x7", or 1:180 scale. (stand adds 4.5")

  2. BulletIncredible complexity. The kit used to build Serenity consists of more than 250 parts, including resin, brass, aluminum and laser-cut acrylic.

  3. BulletFilm-quality build. Some 30 different colors, including flat and metallic paint, are used in the ship's multilayer paint master.

  4. BulletSpitting image. Weathering, wear and other painting effects are designed to exactly mirror the movie version of ship.

  5. BulletSuperior components. Surfaces are crafted to simulate real-world materials – metal, ceramic, even the mirrored surfaces of the solar panels.

  6. BulletNo decals. All graphics on Serenity are painted on by hand.

  7. BulletSFX Edition. Our SFX Edition incorporates some 32 lighting effects, including static, flashing, strobe and chase lights.

  8. BulletWireless remote. The SFX Edition replica includes a wireless remote control to operate lights with a separate button for activating "hard burn.” Lighting system includes automatic 15-minute shutoff to help protect the both the lights and model.

  9. BulletCool display. Serenity’s display base/diorama looks like a landing pad straight out of The Verse. It comes with an acrylic cradle that shows Serenity in flight. Standard configuration features Inara's shuttle taking off while the other shuttle is docked in its bay.

  10. BulletBig Damn Heroes. Eight crew members can be seen on the bridge.

  11. BulletPro Prop Crate. Each Serenity is shipped in custom-cut foam and stored in a hand-built wooden apple crate, just like what the pros use to safeguard their props.

As with all QMx Artisan replicas, Serenity – The Big Damn Replica is made to order in the U.S. by special-effects artists (who build models for movies when they're not working on our replicas). Not only does this allow us to offer you a replica of great intricacy and beauty, it also allows you to make your Serenity uniquely your own.

Options available for customization include:

  1. BulletEngines pose (Crazy Ivan, anyone?)

  2. BulletShuttles in-flight or docked.

  3. BulletCaptain's name on the builder's plaque.

  4. BulletSFX or standard (non-lit) version (lighting system is optional).

  5. BulletReactor shutters open or closed.

Serenity – The Big Damn Replica will come in two editions:  standard and SFX.

The standard edition is built exactly the same as the SFX edition, including all the

attention to detail, but excludes the lighting system. Customers purchasing either

edition will be eligible for all the benefits of QMx Concierge Service, including a

personal concierge to help you with your order and any customization requests.

Although every Artisan replica we make is, in a real sense, an edition of one, we

understand having an edition number is very important to collectors in determining overall value of a replica. That's why we've set the edition size for Serenity – The Big Damn Replica at just 500 ships total.

We will begin booking orders for Serenity on September 30, 2009. Because this is a hand-built, made-to-order replica, please allow 30-60 days for delivery of your Big Damn Replica.

Sign up for the Serenity waiting list* now by clicking here and e-mailing the QMx Concierge!

*IMPORTANT NOTE: Signing up for the waiting list is not a commitment to buy. However, when we open up ordering for the Serenity replica, those who sign up on the waiting list will be contacted first, in the order in which e-mail reservations are received. A QMx Concierge will contact you via e-mail when we start taking orders; please be sure to respond from an e-mail address you check regularly and/or include a phone number, and we will do our best to get in touch.

Let the Great Zombie Hunt Begin!

So now that I have a small bit of spare time on my hands and a nice thirst for a bit of mayhem thanks to my previous marathon of the first two seasons of "Dexter", I had decided to Finish my "Resident Evil" proclamation that I made about 2 years ago. And my said mission statement was – "Gun my way through all of the RE games for the Nintendo by the time RE5 hits. That was be my "excuse" to get a New Xbox. So time passed on and the release of RE5 came and went, and I had still not made the effort to take the go through any of my Nintendo RE Games.

But now is the time,"I shall finish the game." I recently went out and bought myself a nice used sliver "Wave Bird" wireless controller and dusted off all my "Game Cube" RE games that I have, 0-4. I have played and defeated 0 through 2 before, all be it several years ago, but not once have I even played 3 or 4 in the long period of time that I have owned them.  And yes, I know and do plan on picking up "Code Veronica" and the "Umbrella Chronicles" and taking on those rides as well. So for the next few months (what can I say, I like to savor the adventure) I'm going to shoot my way through the entire Nintendo Resident Evil series all the bloody way to RE5 and a shiny new Xbox 360.

First up…. Resident Evil 0

"Are those the footsteps of Survivors or…?"
