QotD: Gettin’ Better Every Day

What do you think would make your life better?
Submitted by Simon.

Money. A lot of Money.

And not necessarily for the typical vanity or high life reasons. Just so I don't have to worry about the hassles and  expenses of life. Then I could lose the 9 to 5  so I could do what I really want. Get out and see the world, make a studio and then just Paint, Sculpt, and Create Art for the rest of my life. A simple kind of life.

My Ding A Ling, My Ding A Ling,….

I want you to play with my Ding a Ling.

However, no one but me can play with my Wii.

How would one measure the restraint shown for someone like me, who has grown up with Nintendo since the 80's, and has has wanted a Nintendo Wii for two years to finally get one, and then just let it sit in a corner of a room, still in the box and unopened for 3 weeks?

Have I lost interest because of the long wait? Am I getting to old for Video Games? Am I waiting till I get a killer game? Who knows! Now that I think about it, could be the lack of free time. I also have some other unopened items, like the Simpsons Season 8 DVD that I have had for a while.

Stranger (or Ironic) still, my Father wants (and will get) a Nintendo Wii for Christmas. The very same person who always told me when I was a kid growing up and craved Video Game Systems/Games, "Waste of Money, Waste of Time, Don't you have better things to do than play video games", and so on.

After all of those years, Do I now have the right say the "Waste of Time" phrases to him?

QotD: Looking Forward…

What are you most looking forward to this week? What are you least looking forward to?

What am I least looking forward to this week is – Work. Don't get me wrong, I'm grateful that I even have a job. It's not that hard or stressful. It's just the long hours for the past few months at times make me feel like I'm becoming a mindless drone.

What I am most looking forward to this week is – Payday. The easy answer I know, but all the hours of work do make it worth while. That and I really need to get my Holiday Shopping done. I've really slacked off this year.

Holiday Shopping Etiquette – 08

I originally posted this entry a few years ago. I thought I would do the world a favor by re-posting and sharing this blog entry again. However, it's not entirely a re-post, I did add two new "Points" at the end. Enjoy.

It's that time of year again, the idiots have come out to do their Holiday Shopping. Normally this is not problem, but it does become one if you happen to live in a Major Metropolitan Area. So for this reason, I have made up list of "Holiday Shopping Etiquette/Rules", or what ever you wanna call em.

You may know someone who needs these rules. Or you  might want to have a look. Whatever the case maybe, please pass on these following guidelines to as many people you know.  The following suggestions are in no particular order, just as they come off the top of my head.

  • Treat others as you want to be treated. I don't care if  your a Grandma, if you want to act like a jerk, expect to be treated like a jerk in return. And on the flip side, if you don't like dealing with people, then get out of the retail business. So remember: Be Nice
  • It is not the fault of the store clerks if an item is sold out, they do not control the amount of stock they receive from the distributors. The world does not revolve around you.
  • After you have been checked out, move out of the line to look over your receipt. All you have to do is just step aside and let the line continue to move.
  • If the Item you buy requires extra accessories (memory cards, batteries, controllers, things of that nature), buy them now. Why? Because it will really suck on Christmas Day and little Timmy Needs that "Rechargeable Battery Pack" for his car, and then you come in to your favorite store the next day and they are all sold out, everywhere. And then they will tell you it won't be back in stock until February. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED
  • For those of you who like to write checks, you are one of the reasons the check out lines are slowed down. There is a fabulous invention called a "Check Card". Do us all a favor and get one. But if you still insist on writing checks, do not wait until everything is checked out and then start digging it out of your bag, have the courtesy to have it in you hand (with your ID) and filled out so all you have to do is write in the amount.
  • After you have checked out, don't be an ass and leave your basket in the check out lane, move it to a location where it does not cause traffic to build.
  • If there is an "Express Line" (10 items or less), don't be a jerk with your basket-full of junk and get in it. That line is for people who  have a few items.
  • Check and then Double Check the price of the Item you are getting. Just because you have found an item on the shelf marked with an incredibly low price, does not make it so. People are always picking stuff up and then just putting it where ever they feel like, usually in the incorrect spot.
  • Try to do more shopping online, most of the time you can find better prices and free shipping. And you can shop in your underwear.
  • Forward and Share "Discount and Coupon Codes" emails with Family and Friends. You might not need 50% off bath towels, but someone else might. Or that special someone just might be able to use that discount code on a gift for you. Just be sure it's from a "known" online retailer.
  • Donate to a Charity. Because its the nice thing to do. And your Christmas will be that much brighter knowing that you helped make a difference in someone life.

I'm pretty sure some have slipped my mind at this time, so if you know any I have forgotten and wanna add more to the list, feel free to add them in the comments.

It’s Cold!

Well the Arctic Blast finally hit D/FW. It's 33F right now. I'll have to remember to pick up some Hot Coco Mix next time I go to the Store. Thank god for Indoor Heating. But not so much Thanks for having NO HEATING in the just repaired Geo Metro. Oh well, it's only 40 minute drive to and from work.
