Just Five More Mintues 2 – This Time It’s Personal!

Success!

I got up early and I made here to work on time, which was a little before 8:00am. Beat the morning traffic and was the first one here in the Vault. It's not all smiles though. My co-worker left early yesterday because her Dog was not feeling to well. She's not here yet, and is usually the first one here. So I don't know how her dog is, hopefully doing well.

Vox Hunt: Just Five More Minutes

Show us what time you have to wake up in the morning.

6:55am.

That's what time my alarm wakes me up. However, I do lay back down for another  5 more minutes. But when I open my eyes and do get up for the day, those "5 more minutes" some how turn into "20 more minutes". It's no secret, I've gone on record here by saying that I really hate waking up early. But now I'm afraid I will have to start getting up a lot earlier than I want. Now that School is back in session, morning traffic here in D/FW is now more Sucktastic than ever. The past 2 days I have made it to work a lot later than I intended, especially this morning. It took me at least 15 minutes to travel less than a mile as I was stuck in the congestion where Highways 121 and 114 merge. And the fact that I'm driving a piece of crap car doesn't help much.

2 Years on Vox

Yep, I believe today 2 years ago is when I first posted my first lame entry here. It's been fun blogging here on Vox thus far and I'm sure thankful for you folks out there who take the time and read this and my past entries. I know I am definitely appreciative for having all of you, my wonderful neighbors (especially my international neighbors) as a small part of my life. Most of the time life is good, but when it's not, it's nice to know that we can share our good Karma with each other when we are feeling down.  Even though I haven't actually met anyone here personally, I know your all have good souls. After all, I do read your blogs as well.

My Last Visit to Texas Stadium?

When I got home from Work/Gym this past Friday, I got a call from my brother inviting me to the Cowboys Preseason game vs The Texans. Turns out that a childhood friend of my brother (I knew him as well) from our days back when we lived in England now lives here in D/FW. Another friendship reunion courtesy of MySpace. For me it was about 15 years since I saw his friend. He was just a little kid and now he's a man with a wife and kid.

Anyways, I meet my brother in Irving so only one of us has to drive to the Stadium.  You see. It's been a few years since I've been to a Cowboys game so we forgot the traffic was going to be horrendous. We were pretty much stuck in traffic for 30 minutes. What really made it suck so much more is that we were probably less than a mile away the entire time. So just as we missed the first quarter of the game, my brother (who is driving) finally decided to do a little creative driving and park us by some nearby warehouses. After a good ten minute walk, some freeway crossing, we finally got to the Stadium, where we met his friend and wife, whom were already there for an hour.

Our tickets were way in the upper deck behind the one of the goals. The Cowboys Mascot Rowdy was up there for a while, handing out t-shirts and taking pictures with fans. We enjoyed a bit of the the Second Quarter and  some of the Third Quarter up there before we, ahem, moved down to the 4th row near the 15 yard line. Those were some awesome seats! Yet it was just as hot, humid, and a bit smelly down there as it was in the upper decks. We were on the Cowboys side of the field so I did get to see some of your local athletes fairly close. I don't think I even have to  tell you how great it is to have the Dallas Cowboy Cheerleaders dance right in font of you.

At the end, the Dallas Cowboys did defeat the Houston Texans by a score of 23 to 22. As we left, my brother and I did get one more "Good Look" at the stadium. Even though it was a preseason game it was definitely special moment for us. I know that if I don't ever go back to Texas Stadium before it closes at the end of this Season, that's one hell of a way for this Cowboys fan to go out. That being said, I'm am looking forward to making some noise in Arlington next year.

July 30 – August 24

Hello everybody.

Yes, I'm still alive. I took a bit of a writing break (if you call this writing), but I'm back here on Vox. So what's been going on with me for the past few weeks? Well…

Work. And then after that, work some more.

It got real hot here in D/FW, the crappy AC in my dad's Metro doesn't work to well so I got mild heat exhaustion. Fortunately for me that lasted less than a week.

My father returned from his 8 month deployment in Cuba. My cousin and her husband both just got deployed to Iraq. I wish them well and hope they return home safe.

My gym visits were slacking, but recently I have been going more frequently. I added the "Rowing Machine" Exercise to my routine. That is so much fun, I wish I had been doing that a lot sooner.

The little Geo Metro that I am currently using, some kids (I assume) egged it.

My baby niece Russia can crawl. Today I just started a little chasing game with her. She seems to like it because so far it makes her giggle.

Gizmo's limp has all but disappeared.

The Cowboys season has started. Finally!

Vox Hunt: Recent Purchase

Show us the last thing you bought.

Not counting my meals, the last item I happily purchased was this exquisite Pin-Up from ToriBell. As lovely as this sample is, imagine it at 20×30. Simply Breathtaking!  She was even kind enough to autograph it.

QotD: I Never Should Have Asked…

What question do you wish you'd never asked.
Submitted by cha0tic.

Well, when I stop to think about it, none. Even when I have asked the questions that have made me look like a jackass or didn't get the answer I wanted to hear, I always learned from it. This "QotD" should have been "Which question do you wish you would have asked?" More interesting tales of regret would come from that, especially by me.

Pin-Up of Watchmen’s Sally Jupiter

Artist James Jean created this illustration for the Watchmen movie that can be seen briefly in the trailer. He writes on his site:

At 1:32 into the Watchmen trailer, you can see a glimpse of an illustration I did for the movie. Alex McDowell asked me to create a Vargas-esque portrait of Sally Jupiter, played by Carla Gugino. It only appears for 1 second in the trailer, but the illustration is supposed to play a larger role in that particular scene.
