Some Good, Some Bad.

Gizmo went to see the Vet this afternoon. He's been limping for a week now and it turns out he re-injured his hind leg. He originally hurt that leg a few years ago, so he will be undergoing surgery for the second time to repair his torn ligaments. Unfortunately for him, he won't be going to the Park or on walks around the neighborhood for the foreseeable future.

On a positive note, baby Russia is starting to crawl. Well more like dragging herself along. We used to be able to move things (toys/keys/etc..) just out of reach so she won't grab it and stick it in her mouth because she really couldn't move around. Now we can't do that anymore because she has learned to drag herself (slowly, but she gets there) to get to what she wants.

Vox Hunt: Purple Ribbon Project

In honor of the International Purple Ribbon Project, show us something purple.

Ah purple, I can't think of a better way to showcase this color than to use examples from a favorite website of mine.

Here is one shot of the lovely Miss Quinne Suicide.

And here are a pair of banners I made (using Photoshop CS3) a few months back for Miss AnnaMay Suicide.

QotD: A World with Less Violence

What could we do to create a world with less violence?

Nothing to hard. Just eliminate racism, possession, poverty, borders, and religious intolerance. Most likely this won't happen in my lifetime, but I REALLY do believe that someday it can.

Wanted – Space Ambassadors

New NSS program designed to communicate benefits of space to local communities will fly one Space Ambassador on SpaceShipTwo

May 29, 2008, Washington DC: The National Space Society (NSS) and Virgin Galactic announced today the NSS Space Ambassadors Program, which for one person will lead to a trip to space on Virgin Galactic's SpaceShipTwo.

Space Ambassadors will be trained to deliver an eye-opening new presentation designed to educate and inspire the public about the practical and humanitarian benefits of exploration and research in space.

As part of their job duties, one Space Ambassador will fly to space on a suborbital space flight aboard SpaceShipTwo, provided by Virgin Galactic.

George Whitesides, Executive Director of the National Space Society, stated, "The Space Ambassadors Program is a global grassroots effort to communicate how space research and exploration are essential to solving many of the greatest problems facing humanity."

The Space Ambassadors program is open to anyone with a passion for space and the ability to communicate that passion to other people. Interested parties are encouraged to sign up online at www.SpaceAmbassadors.com to receive more information.

Will Whitehorn, President of Virgin Galactic, stated, "We are very excited by the prospect of supporting the NSS Space Ambassadors program because we believe wholeheartedly in its aim of communicating a passion both for space exploration and for research into the huge benefits of using space to help solve practical problems here on Earth."

Whitehorn continued, "We hope that a seat on a Virgin Galactic flight will provide tangible encouragement for a generation of new space ambassadors to come forward and inspire the astronauts, space scientists and extraterrestrial entrepreneurs of the future."

Full details of the NSS Space Ambassadors Program, including the selection process, will be released later in 2008.

4th Time is The Charm.

Congrats to my brother who just graduated, again, over the weekend from Gannon U. up in Erie. I jokingly say "again" because this brings the grand total to 4 times now. I was unable to attend this ceremony but I'm pretty sure it was like the other 2 (3 if you count H.S.) times: we arrive, he walks the stage, we take him out for dinner, we go home. And I'm also fairly certain that he is very happy with one of the gifts he received (and I'm just a bit envious of) which is an 007 Edition Omega Watch.
