Rodrigo Y Gabriela – Live @ The Bear Tooth in Anchorage

What a show. For just two guitar players, they sure do put on one hell of a show. As I mentioned in my previous post, this show was a last minute Birthday present. We showed to the Bear Tooth all the way from Texas to a "Sold Out" show with no tickets in hand in hopes of scoring some from scalpers or people who might have some extra tickets to get rid of. Well thanks to a kind security guard, we did get tickets at face value.

Inside I did plant myself front and center. As for the show itself, It was fucking incredible. If you listen to their CD you might think your in for a nice and mellow performance. Think again, this was straight up a Rock Concert. Not only did they play the Hell out of their own songs, they also include some covers from Led Zeppelin, Metallica, and Pink Floyd. And their fan interaction was off the chart. They alway were hyping up the crowd to get some energy going. They encouraged the crowd to sing to the Pink Floyd song "Wish You Were Here".

They even pulled a random musician/singer out of the audience in an effort to promote local talent. The girl that came on Stage was named Becky. Rodrigo gave her a Mic, Gabriela gave her guitar, and they let her sing to the crowd. The highlight of the show (for my mom anyways) was that Rodrigo came right down to where we were standing and played the opening to "Stairway to Heaven" as if to serenade my mother, and all of the other girls who rushed the stage right at that moment.

Again, I can't stress how much this show rocked. It was quite possibly the best concert I have been to in a long time. For those who are not familiar with their music, fear not. Just go and have a look at my first post about them and you'll get a real flavor of their style and sound. And if they are playing in your neck of the woods, or hell even if they are not, go and see them live.

Some Pics From Alaska

A few pictures from the 3 Day Trip to Alaska. Didn't really do a lot of sight seeing because we were just there mainly to see the Rodrigo Y Gabriela Concert. However we did hit a few local eateries and some tourist spots Including Humpy's, they have great food there. And also The Wild Berry. Oh man, that place is a dream come true for Chocolate lovers. They even have a 20 ft. Chocolate Fall. On the last day there, we did drive down "Alaska Route 1" all the way to Whittier to see the Portage Glacier. The scenery was so Beautiful and the weather just Perfect. Overall it was a very enjoyable trip and I do recommend that if you ever get a chance do visit Anchorage. Enjoy the Pictures.

Happy Birthday To Me

Welcome Home

So I'm home. I got back around 11am local time. Today for the most part was just a sit back and relax day. After catching the Red Eye from Anchorage and sitting in an uncomfortable chair for 6 hours, I hardly got any sleep last night. When we landed I came straight home and took care of a few light errands and then took a nap before my sister and her husband showed up for a bit of family fun. So here are just a few pics from the plane trip to Alaska, including what I did to entertain myself for 6 hours. I'll have a better post of the trip and concert tomorrow when I am one year older and wiser.

4232.09 Miles

Now that it has happened, I can reveal the true reason for my Birthday trip to Alaska. Last night we saw Rodrigo Y Gabriela play an incredible show at the Bear Tooth Theaterpub here in Anchorage. The crazy part is that the show has been sold out for weeks and we had no tickets. So this was a big gamble to travel 4232.09 miles just for an event we might not have been able to attend. But with some birthday luck on our side, we got tickets at face value (I assumed they released more) and I got front and center for the show. I did get some good pictures and some video that I can't wait to share. This has got to be one of the best Birthday's yet. I'll write more about this amazing concert when I get home. Have fun and stay safe friends.

Good Morning From Anchorage

Yes, Alaska. My mother treated me to this trip as an early birthday present. After a 6 hour flight, I arrived in this wonderful city around 9 PM local time. And to answer your question, yes, this is the first time I have been to Alaska (and technically Canada as we flew over it). And I got to tell you this place is so beautiful. The city seems to be so wide open and the air is so fresh. Right now its cool and not cold (I'm in my shorts) which is nice. I going to do some sight seeing now and I'll have a lot of nice pics to post when I get home. See you all soon my friends.

Sweet Revenge – Kittie Live in Fort Worth

Last night was the return of Kittie. It was third time the band performed here the the D/FW area, coming back to the Ridglea Theater in Fort Worth where they first played back in February.

This time around however, Trish was not able to make the show so they had Jeff Phillips (of Thine Eyes Bleed) fill in. It was a killer show as usual and my ears are still ringing, but this last show felt a bit quick to me. Maybe because it was the third show I have been to this year and I already knew what to expect. But all in all I had a good time.

The interesting detail of the night was when I left the venue, I noticed that the shirt I bought smelled like nicotine and the shirt I was wearing smelled like weed. Enjoy the pictures.

Star Wars: Where Science Meets Imagination

Over the weekend while my brother was in town, we headed to the Fort Worth Museum of Science and History to checkout the Star Wars Exhibit: Where Science Meets Imagination.  And like the the geeks we are, we spent over 3 hours in there painstakingly examining every Star Wars Prop and assimilating every bit of information the exhibit had to offer. I ended up taking over 100 pictures, but here are the more interesting shots I took.
