Queens of the Stone Age – The Fun Machine Took A Shit And Died

When I got home from my trip over the weekend, I had a bunch of packages waiting for me when I got home. Among them was my Secret Society Starter Kit and my new Queens of the Stone Age CD – Era Vulgaris. And with the Album came a bonus disk of the studio version of "The Fun Machine Took A Shit And Died". I've been dying to hear this version ever since they handed them out on vinyl to some lucky U.K. Fans. The only only other version available up until now was the live version off of there DVD Over The Years and Through The Woods.

Now that I have heard both versions of the song, I think I prefer the live version due to the fact that it's a lot more raw, aggressive, and faster. Don't get me wrong, I like the studio version too, it's just that it's a tad slower and a bit more trippy. But you don't have to take my word for it. To my wonderful Vox Friends out there, I present to you both versions of the aforementioned song for your listening pleasure. Enjoy!

No Rest For The Wicked

I had a bit of an interesting weekend. On Friday afternoon my Mother and I left for San Antonio to meet my Sis and her Husband because he is being stationed in there for a few weeks for some training. On Saturday we originally were going tubing down the San Marcos River but because of the abundance of rain we (Texas) have had, the rivers were to high and off limits.

So we ended up going to Sea World because they were told that they could get up to 4 free tickets with there Military I.D.s. Well they could only get the 2 tickets for themselves and we had to pay for the other 2. I have never been to Sea World so the day started out fun and there were a lot of firsts for me that day. The first time I saw a some Sharks, the first time I saw Shamu. The first time I had some of the Ice Cream of the Future. Then we decided to spit up for lunch. Because of a miscommunication on where to meet after we ate, we ended up looking for each other for the next few hours. Needless to say when we did regroup it was time to leave.

On Sunday we headed back home, but not before my Mom took my Sis shopping for Maternity clothes and another stop to see my step sister who lives in the area.

We finally got back to Fort Worth around 9pm and I now have to get repacked and head out the door in a few hours to head to Shreveport with my Sister for up to 2 weeks. While there I will be fulfilling my Big Brother Duties and stay with my Sister while her husband is out of town.

Day Watch – Movie Review

Recommended

Last night I saw a screening of the Russian Sci-Fi film Day Watch. For those of you who are not in the know, Day Watch is the sequel to the film Night Watch. It's a bit hard to explain the world of two films, but to put it simply it's like the Matrix meets Underworld.

(Minor Spoilers)
Anton (Konstantin Khabensky) & Svetlana (Mariya Poroshina) of the Dark Watch continue to fight the forces of Darkness while simultaneously attempting to find and save Anton's son Yegor (Dima Martynov) from the influences of those same forces. But when vampires belonging to the Light Watch start mysteriously being killed, and Anton is framed for their murders, he must put that goal on hold and try to escape the Day Watch that is looking for him  to help manipulate his son into bring about the Apocalypse.
(End Spoilers)

Overall I liked the movie, the story was good, the action was great, even plenty of laughs, and they even made reading the subtitles interesting (If you've seen the Night Watch DVD you'll know what I'm talking about. My buddy thought it was a bit to long, I believe it's a bit over 2 hours. The only element that bothered me was the ending of the film. Now I'm not saying it's a bad ending, I just felt it was a bit anti-climatic. This film is not for everyone but I would recommend that if you have seen Night Watch and liked it, do see Day Watch. And for those of you who haven't seen Night Watch go and Rent it first and see if you like the film, which I do also recommend to the Sc-Fi/Horror fans out there. If you do enjoy it after you watch it, then go and see Day Watch.

QotD: An Embarrassing Hobby

What was the most embarrassing hobby you've ever had?
Submitted by Billie Fable.

Yes, I was the Queen of the Yu-Gi-Oh.

When I worked at an area Toy Store, I was volunteered (and by that I mean that they asked everyone to do it and everyone said no, so that left me) to run the Yu-Gi-Oh meets on Saturday mornings. Long story short I really got into the game, I even had my favorite card: The Cosmo Queen (hence the nickname). Eventually the meets ended and I stopped playing the game, but I probably would still be playing Yu-Gi-Oh today if it wasn't mainly played by young kids . I still have my deck hidden away in my closet.

Chris Cornell – Billie Jean

This afternoon I went out and picked up Chris Cornell's latest album titled Carry On, which I guess myself (and many fans) will have to do since there is no more Audioslave. The song that I am posting here today is his cover of Billie Jean,  which was originally made famous by Michael Jackson back in 83'.
