Lets Go Mavericks!!!!

Well, it's finally time for me to catch up on some much need sleep. Since Monday, I logged in 58hrs at work for the week. So I think I've earned at least this for tonight.

And because the Dallas Mavs just went into a toilet bowl of a city known as San Antonio and defeated the Spurs 105-97, I will be sleeping very happily. I also get to turn off the alarm clock for the night. Now I can sleep in for as long as I want.

Tomorrow is unofficially the last Soccer Game of this season. I am really amped up for this game, even got some new shorts and socks for this occasion. Win or loose, I'm gonna give it all. And if I happen to knock over a few players tomorrow, well they should not have gotten in my way.

And one final note, today on the drive home from work I saw probably the stupidest person in Texas. At some point during the drive, I glanced over at the opposite side of the freeway and saw a man on a Motorcycle. And in the 4 seconds it took him to pass me, I noticed three things. One – He was in the fast lane. Two – He wasn't wearing a helmet. Three – His body was not on top of the bike. He was driving the bike with his body completely on the left side standing on the foot peg/pedal. Maybe it's just me, but that seems just a bit dangerous to be doing in heaving traffic.

Anyways… Good night.

Dirk Nowitzki is the MVP

A nice conclusion to great regular season (the playoffs didn't happen), Dirk Nowitzki was officially awarded the MVP trophy by NBA Commissioner David Stern in Dallas yesterday. Dirk is the first European (he is from Germany) and Dallas Maverick to win the award. In his ninth season, Dirk lead the Mavericks to the franchise's best regular season record of 67-13. Nowitzki averaged 24.6 points, 8.9 rebounds and a career-high 3.4 assists. The 7-footer was the only NBA player to shoot at least 50 percent from the field (.502), 40 percent from the arc (.416) and 90 percent from the line (.904)

MVP?

The rumors are all over the place, it appears that our Dirk Nowitzki will be named the new NBA MVP. If this turns out to be true, I think this award will have a bittersweet taste. Yes we had a great regular season but we failed to carry that success in the post season for on of the greatest collapses of all time.

The Mavs Live To Play Another Day

THE MAVS WIN, NOWITZKI STEPS UP IN THE CLUTCH!!!

The Dallas Mavericks barely defeat the Golden State Warriors and win game 5 118-112. The Mavs dominated early but the Warriors kept striking back by hitting 3-pointer after 3-pointer and finally took a 9 point lead with 3:20 left in the fourth quarter. With the season hanging in the balance, Dirk Nowitzki hit his first of two key 3-pointers and would later lead the Mavs to a 15-0 run for the remainder of the quarter as the Warriors again had Baron Davis foul out and Stephen Jackson ejected with the rest of the team missing all of their shots.

Nowitzki led all scorers with 30 points on 7-of-15 shooting, while also leading all rebounders with 12. J-Ho added 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists, and Devin Harris contributed 16 points and seven assists while Jerry Stackhouse came off the bench to add 15. DeSagana Diop stepped into the starting line-up and enjoyed a solid game, scoring 11 points on 5-of-5 shooting while adding seven rebounds.

The Mavs are still down in the series 3-2 and are now on their way to Oakland for game 6

The Missing German

THE DALLAS MAVERICKS LOOSE AGAIN!!!

It's now Full Collapse Alert here in north Texas now that the Dallas Mavericks, who are were the "best team in the NBA" having the number one seed throughout the playoffs, are now down 3-1 to the 8th seeded Golden State Warriors and now face elimination on Tuesday.

The big question on out there, Where is Dirk Nowitzki? He has pretty much been a non-factor so far and until he decides to show up and play like the MVP he is supposed to be, we are gonna go out in the first round.

Mavs Drop Game 1

MAVS LOSE! MAVS LOSE!

Tonight the the Mavs open up the first round of the 2007 NBA Playoffs by losing Game One at home against Golden State 97-85. We had very weak Defensive effort with no answer for Baron Davis who alone burned the Mavs and scored 33 points. And it didn't help that the Mavs played poorly Offensively with a 35% Field Goal percentage. The German Nowitzki only had 14 points (6-14) and got no help from the bench. Just 4 bench points from Diop with none from Stackhouse. At this point it's safe to say that former Dallas coach Don Nelson knows how to beat us because this is now 6 straight losses to The Warriors.

On the plus side of things, the Stars are still in the playoffs. They have managed to tie the series 3 all and force a game 7 after being down in the series 3-1 to the Canucks.

2 for 3

It was a good night for the local sports teams.

The Great: The Stars shut out Vancouver 2-0 and tie the Western Conference Quarterfinal series 1-1. Dallas Goaltender Marty Turco had 35 saves to go along with his first shutout playoff win.

The Good: The Rangers beat Seattle 5-2 bringing the Rangers record to  5-5 in this young MLB season.

The Boring: The Mavs lose to Utah 104-89. The Mavericks have the top spot in the NBA locked up, so with nothing to play for and 3 of our starters not playing, it's no surprise the Mavs lost in a fairly dull game tonight. The Playoffs can't get here fast enough.

J-Ho Strikes Back!

J-HO TIES CAREER HIGH OF 30 POINTS AGAINST BOSTON!!

Josh Howard & Dirk Nowitzki helped the Mavs with 30 points each to be those pesky Boston Celtics 106-101. This was a great makeup performance by both the Mavs top players as both Howard and Nowitzki (and the refs with their no calls on obvious fouls) cost the Mavs the victory against Phoenix.

First Josh fouled Steve Nash behind the 3 point line, giving Nash 3 free throws and putting Phoenix in position to tie the game which would later go into double overtime. Then Nowitzki & Howard miss key free throw shots when they need them to put Phoenix away. And to top it all off, while J-Ho fouls out of the game in overtime, Dirk missed both of the game winning shots in regulation and overtime.

Thankfully the German Bomber Nowitzki didn't choke like he did vs. Phoenix on Wednesday night and hit the clutch shots (including the game winner) when he needed to. That (much needed) victory puts the Mavs back in the winning column after losing two straight games to Golden State and Phoenix.
