Dreaming of October.

It's official! Because of the Camaro's production issues, I'm gonna continue to be cooked alive while driving in the Geo Metro (better known as the Mobile Oven) for the duration of the Summer. As you know, my Cavalier aka "Black Sunshine" was destroyed last Spring by an idiot kid, so I've been (voluntarily) stuck in my Dads' old Metro for One year and Five months (boy it seems like it's been longer). Its over 100 degrees here in D/FW and there is no A/C in that car. And my drive to and from work is 40 min. Minimum!

Anyways, I haven't spoken much of my new car acquisition adventures as of late. I originally wanted to order a Camaro back in June, but there was some chatter of a Z28 model possibly coming soon that I decided to hold off until Transformers 2 hit theaters in early July. That's seemed the most likely time period that some sort of news on a Z28 model would have been released. Well, the news did come right after the movie hit. And it wasn't all that good. For me at least. Long story short, in an interview with "Team Camaro", a Z28 model has been developed. But most likely won't be put in to production until 2011 at the earliest.

So it's back to an SS model for me. As bad as I want a Z28, I just can't wait that long. Then yesterday come news from GM that there is a hold on "shipping" Camaro SS models with manual transmissions due to "transmission issues". Yes, this is the exact model I want. The don't specify for how long, but I'm going to assume it will be for an extended period of time. So that squashed any hope of me getting one before fall comes, ensuring that I will continue to drive in this wonderful Texas heat for a second year in a row. So now I'm just gonna tough it out and wait another 3 more months, till October. Then finally I should be putting in a order for a new Camaro. Hopefully by January, "Black Sunshine – A" will be roaming the streets of D/FW.

QotD: Tomorrow’s Tax Day

Tomorrow's Tax Day. Have you done your taxes yet?

Yep, just finished. After a few years of owing, this year I get a refund. Finally!

As of now, it's looks like it's going to be just enough for a down payment on a new CAR. And the timing couldn't be better. GM appears to be going in the wrong direction so it looks like they will be needing me just as much as I need a new vehicle.

The Metro, Tiburon, and Camaro.

Well over the weekend I turned over the Geo Metro over to my father's "painter" to give the Metro a new coat. So for the near future, I'm driving his Hyundai Tiburon. He has several cars in case your wondering, and a few months back he wanted me to buy the Hyundai. Anyways, it's a fine car. Has some kick. I almost forgot what it felt like to drive something that was built for speed. It feels good.

Still, as tempting as this car is, I really do have my sights set on the latest Camaro. Which, as of last Monday, is coming of the Assembly Lines up in Canada. My days of being without my own vehicle may be coming to an end. If fortune favors me, I hope to be getting one of these bad boys in June. Hopefully no later than August.

Vox Hunt: Always on My Mind

Show us something that's been on your mind a lot.

Aside from the usual guy "thoughts", what I have been thinking about the most is my next car, The "Black Sunshine 2" Especially while I'm slowing slugging along in my Dad's little Geo Metro, (I can walk faster than this heap) which I've been driving now ever since I lost my car. It was a 98 Black Cavalier with a good amount of aftermarket/performance parts, which gave that average car a lot of go. At this point I'm past getting another average car and investing a lot of extra time and money to get some extra speed. I want a nice car that is "built for speed". And as of now, the car that I want the most is a Black Camaro. But what year to get is my current conundrum. In about a year, I should have enough money (hopefully) saved for either the newly released 2010 model, or a good condition 1969 model. The Future or Past?
