Rodrigo y Gabriela – Buster Voodoo

Since I've been super busy lately, it's no surprise that I have not I posted a entry about Rodrigo y Gabriela, especially since their latest album "11:11" just dropped last month and I'll be seeing them for a second time Live in a few weeks at the House of Blues. Of course I don't have to tell you that their Acoustic, Metal, Jazz, Flamenco style of Guitar playing is as Awesome as ever, that entire album is solid. But you don't have to take my word for it… from a live Radio performance here's their latest and greatest single from the duo entitled "Buster Voodoo", a song they dedicated to Jimi Hendrix. Enjoy.

New Kittie Album Coming in September

NEW ALBUM, IN THE BLACK, TO BE RELEASED
ON SEPTEMBER 15, 2009

(New York, NY) — E1 Music announces the addition of Canada’s KITTIE to its heavy metal roster. Under this worldwide deal, KITTIE will release three albums for the label.

KITTIE (Morgan Lander—vocals and guitar, Mercedes Lander—drums, Tara McLeod—guitar, and Ivy Vujic—bass guitar) has released four studio albums during its career which have sold collectively over 1,250,000 copies. The band’s new album, IN THE BLACK, is slated for release on September 15, 2009. Some new songs on the album are “Cut Throat, “Sorrow I Know” and “My Plague.”

KITTIE vocalist Morgan Lander says, “We are totally thrilled and honored to be working with Scott Givens and to now be part of the E1 family. We have been hard at work for the past few months perfecting our latest musical offering and are pleased with the final result of IN THE BLACK. It is everything that Kittie is supposed to be: heavy, fast, brash and nasty, yet at times introspective, feminine and emotional. One thing it is not, however, is compromising of the sound and style that we have come to be known for. This s*** is HEAVY! Our new label pairing with E1 will actualize the vision that we have held constant over the years for the band."

E1 Music VP of Metal Scott Givens adds, “As a band, KITTIE truly is a one of a kind powerhouse. I know I speak for everyone at E1 Music when I say how excited we are to be working with them and launching IN THE BLACK to the masses.”

Currently the band is working on Fall tour plans and will be shooting two videos during the month of July.

Vox Hunt: Oh Canada!

In honor of Canada Day, show us your favorite Canadian.

Well, here are my favorite Canadian's, which happen to be the most kick ass female metal band in the land. But you may know them best as Kittie. They will be going on tour very shorty, however they won't be stopping by my neck of the woods.

KITTIE Parts Ways With Bassist TRISH DOAN!!!

What a bummer, I just found out about this sad news from one of my favorite metal bands. KITTIE has announced the departure of bassist Trish Doan.

Story from blabbermouth.net.
Doan
has been diagnosed with the eating disorder anorexia-athletica-nervosa, which she developed during the recording of KITTIE's "Funeral For Yesterday", Doan's first release with the group.

"It breaks my heart to say goodbye to this family that has given me the best two years of my life," Doan said. "I wish my time with KITTIE did not have to end, but this decision was made based on doctors' orders. Unfortunately, this is the only option that will allow for my full recovery."

Doan has been battling the disease for nearly two years.

"Trish is a part of our family and her talents and friendship will be missed by all of us," said Tara McLeod and sisters Mercedes and Morgan Lander. "We are continuing to be respectful and supportive of Trish's needs during her period of healing. We wish her the best on her road to recovery and will remain close to her throughout this difficult time."

I was fortunate to have met her briefly when Kittie played here last year. She seemed like a very nice person and I really hope she can beat this awful disease.

Vox Hunt: So Far, So Good

Audio: Show us the best album (new or old) that you've bought this year.

As much as I love the new Kittie album "Funeral For Yesterday", I gotta say that the best album that I have bought this year (so far) has to be Rodrigo Y Gabriela's self titled album. If you are any kind of Guitar fan/lover, you have got to give their album (or Music Video) a listen. These two former metal-heads know how to shred on the guitar, you won't be disappointed.

Metallica – Fuel

I just picked up "Metallica: The Videos". I gotta tell you that after putting them on the back burner for so long,  I almost forgot how much fun it is to blast "Metallica" at full volume. Probably the best (in my opinion) video/song to play loud, head bang, drive fast, fuck, or just about any other activity (safe or dangerous) you can think of, "Fuel" is the one to play at maximum capacity.

PLAY LOUD
