Some Nicknames

When we refer to the dogs, most of the time we don't use thier names, we use their nicknames. And trust me, they respond to them all. For Gizmo there is Giz, Gizymodo, Jizmo, Gizy, Mitzymoto, and Penis Boy. My sister came up with that one. J-lo only has two and they are Jello and Little Heifer.

As for me, I only have one nickname from my childhood and it's Petey. To this day, most of my family still refers to me by that name. And a friend of the family calls me Little Pete, but he's the only one.

QotD: Repeat After Me…

How have people mispronounced your name?  How is it supposed to sound?
Submitted by Lorie.

Yes, my first name is mispronounced all the damn time, but after all the years of the incorrect pronunciations of my name I can't say that it really bothers me anymore.
Most people pronounce my name PAYdro when it is supposed to be pronounced PEDro. So far over the years only Mexicans and those fluent in espanol seem to say my name correct.

Pedro, If That Is Your Real Name

Of the many "Christmas Retail" stories I have to tell, this particular episode stands out the most because things were said that were meant to insult me, but instead I thought it was one of the funniest moments of my former retail career.

It took place many moons ago around the holiday shopping season when I used to work for an area Toy Store and starts when one of the seasonal coworkers came up to me and said there was a problem with a customer who was buying a power ranger toy and was disputing the price of the toy. So she takes me to the Power Ranger section where the customer (who is a little old grandma) was and tells me that the toy she got was ringing up $24.99 at the register and on the shelf where she got it was marked $9.99 and pointed to the spot where she picked it up.

After looking at the toy and the spot where she got it, I explained to her that the price was in fact $24.99, and that it was a very busy day, kids were picking up the toys and move them around. As I was telling this to her, I slid the price tags and toys to their correct spots. Then she proceeds to look at me and then my name tag and in that "I'm better than you" tone of voice says "Well Pedro, if that is your real name, I don't think you are correct".

I think she said some other things that implied that I was lying and trying to rip her off, but at that point I kinda spaced out. I guess because it was coming from a little old lady that I thought it was funny. All I did was crack smile and hold back my laughter. I told her "Sorry, I'll get a manager and you can explain it to him".

So we get the manager and let him deal with her. At this point I'm not around when he talked to her, but when we meet up to talk about it later on that day, He tells me that she said, "That damn Pedro, he moved all the tags so I can't show you what the price was". And because of that, she did not end up getting the toy for a lower price.

And so that tale spread around the store to all of my coworkers and from that point on I was constantly teased with "That Damn Pedro" and "If that is your real name" .

I’m Feeling Lucky

Just for fun and out of curiosity, I googled my first name using the "I'm Feeling Lucky" option to see what the number one ranked page is (with my name in it) on google. and came up with PEDro or Physiotherapy Evidence Database, an initiative of the Center for Evidence-Based Physiotherapy.

What?

I went over this site several time, and each time I got more and more confused. While I'm no brainiac, I still consider myself a fairly intelligent person, but I could not make heads nor tails to what this site was about. So not to feel like a total gimp, I did a search of my username using "Im Felling Lucky" and came to this blog.
