To Bee, Or Not To Bee?

Not to Bee!

Of course I am referring to the 2010 Limited Edition "Bumblebee" Camaro that GM recently announced. And I actually thought about it for a while as I'm a Transformers fan from way back when. And as nice as it would be to drive a around in that version of the car, I'll stick with what I originally wanted – All Black. I figure since I'm gonna gut the car over the years anyways, there is no point in buying a car with parts I'm gonna replace. Not to mention I can and will probably buy the Autobot/Deception emblems online. Next week I'll begin the process of deciding on a dealership. I'll send out an email every Chevy Dealer in the D/FW area and see who offers the best/fair deals and who doesn't.

To Be!

"The Resistance"
-  This is the title for the upcoming 5th album from Muse. I can dig it! "I Told You I Was Freaky" – This is the title to the upcoming 2nd album from Flight of the Conchords. I can really dig that!

Not to Be!

Also, seeing on how there is no Championship or Million Dollar Payday on the line, I've decided not to be in the Summer Soccer League which starts this Monday. I'd just rather let my calf muscle fully recover than to take a chance on getting re-injured in a meaningless game and one-legged for the duration of the Summer. As of now, there is no pain when I walk, but the left calf is still stiff and cant' be fully extend so I still have a limp. At the rate I am healing, I should be walking correctly by next Wednesday.

To Be?

Next Saturday the Palm Pre is released and I'm pretty excited about this. This will be my first foray into the Smart Phone World.  I'm already a Sprint Customer and have my "InvisibleShield" kit pre-ordered, so hopefully I can get my hands on the phone next weekend. But I really don't want to wait in a damn line for a phone. I pray that the reported "shortage of phones" is nothing more than a marketing ploy to get costumers in the doors that day. I do however, appear to have one slight advantage. There are 3 Sprint Stores, 2 Wallmarts, 2 Best Buys, and one Radio Shack all within 10 minutes of me. And depending on how everything looks next Friday, I can probably get family and friends (who also want one)  to hit those multiple stores if needed.

Berney Park S.C. – Metro Soccer Tournament

So the big Metro Soccer Tournament took place this past weekend, with the qualifier games taking place on Saturday an the Championship Rounds on Sunday. Myself and the rest of Berny Park S.C. was looking forward to a long and competitive day of Soccer. Our first game started at 9am vs the Rowlett Raiders. For this game I would start at Left-Mid Fielder. Within the first two minutes we scored a Goal. Another few minutes later as I attempted to chase the opponent with the ball, I made a cut to go to the right using my left leg. As I planted my left foot, heard a "pop" and felt my calf muscle contract. Initially there was no pain so I tried to run. After several attempts, I couldn't so I had to "kneel down" so the Ref could stop the play on the field so I could make an exit.

I limped off the field pretty sure I had just pulled my Calf Muscle and didn't fully understand the severity of this injury as I have never really been injured like this before, and I honestly thought I could just walk it off and play again in the next half or be ready by the start of the next game. But after I had described what had happened to my teammates on the sidelines, they told I wouldn't be doing much of anything for a few weeks at the minimum. And they were right, after about 5 minutes of playing time, I was done for the day with only a slide block and a bone head miss on a play for the ball as my only two highlights. I iced up my left calf muscle and watched the rest of the game from the sidelines. We went on to win that game 1-0. The next two games vs. Delilah FC and vs.TN Dallas I could only look on as Berny Park S.C. lost both of those games. 2-0 vs Delilah and, well I stopped keeping score vs. TN Dallas because it got so bad. Needless to say we didn't qualify to play on Sunday.

Two days later I continue walking with a limp. There is no sever pain or discoloration, only discomfort if I try to stretch out and walk correctly with my left leg. Thank goodness I sit in a chair for a living. I am going to cancel my participation in the Summer Soccer League as it's only a few weeks away. I don't want to risk re-injuring my leg and possibly make it worse and be on one leg for the entire summer.  And I'm skipping the gym for the next few days. If it doesn't get worse, I will attempt to continue my exercising by altering my workouts so there is no strain on my legs.

Some might tell me to really take it easy for the next few weeks, and maybe I should. I could always spend more time playing games. I just got "Punch Out" for the Will and I am addicted to it like I was back in the 80's. Or I can pick up the pencil/photoshop and get creative over the summer. That would be really fun for me.

Berny Park S.C. – The Final Game!

First, thanks to my brother Eliseo, Team Captain Clayton Everett, the rest of my teammates of Berny Park S.C., and to my opponents. I had a great time playing Soccer with you all.

The day finally arrived. After two rain delays and several months in the making, the final game of the season was here. And at 3:15pm yesterday, the epic rematch between Berney Park S.C. and Manchester U. still did not happen. Chalk up another forfeit victory to Berny Park because Man U. did not bother to show up, well 4 of there players actually did.

Fortunately the day was not a complete waste. We did end up playing a unsanctioned game with Novus F.C. because there opponents did not show up as well. So we got a volunteer Ref. and our two teams battled it out in a scrimmage game. In the end, Berny Park defeated Novus (for a 3rd straight time this season) by a score of 3-1. So technically we won twice that day.

As for the near future of my Soccer activity, we should (and by that I mean there is a 75% chance) be playing in a Tournament next month in Frisco. There is also a Summer league, but right now I'm 50/50 on playing or not. The games will be on Monday nights instead of Sunday afternoon. Because of my job, that will make it a bit more difficult for me to make the games. We will see I guess.

Again, despite my best efforts during the past few months, my energy and speed were not up to my expectations. Still I can hold my head up high knowing I did give my best efforts. On top of the frequent gym visits, I still am running the school track every other day, so that should help out for next season. I did check my weight tonight, I'm now 200lbs. I have gained 5 pounds since I started playing.

So, at the end of the 09 Spring Season, the final record of Berny Park S.C. was 6-4, good enough for a Second Place finish. What? Second Place!  Well, I'm not 10 years old anymore and we are not little league, so I can say what we all really think, but don't really say out loud, It's not about "having fun", it's about Winning! So here is my thoughts on Second Place finish. Well I can't say it any better than little Tanner Boyle, so I'll let him and the rest of the Bad News Bears speak for me.

Because It Rained A Few Days Ago..

…our scheduled Soccer game for today was Canceled. Damn that fragile field. Personally I would have loved to have been able to play in the mud.

And I had it wrong in my previous entry, this is the last game of the season. Which ironically was the make-up game of the first "Weather Cancellation". And this was to be Berny Park S.C. vs the Hated (by me) Man.U. team that defeated us months before. I haven't gotten the word yet if and when we will play this final game. Regardless, our team is entering a tournament and an exhibition game as well.

So with our free time for the day, My brother, his girl, and I all went to see "Monsters Vs. Aliens 3D". It was entertaining. After that we headed to the Track and Field of a school in the neighborhood and kicked the soccer ball around for a while. Just to keep loose I suppose. And the day ended with the usual Grocery Shopping, Landry, and watching the latest TV episode of "Castle"

Not much else to say other than it's now time for some sleep.

Goodnight.

Lets Go Mavericks!!!!

Well, it's finally time for me to catch up on some much need sleep. Since Monday, I logged in 58hrs at work for the week. So I think I've earned at least this for tonight.

And because the Dallas Mavs just went into a toilet bowl of a city known as San Antonio and defeated the Spurs 105-97, I will be sleeping very happily. I also get to turn off the alarm clock for the night. Now I can sleep in for as long as I want.

Tomorrow is unofficially the last Soccer Game of this season. I am really amped up for this game, even got some new shorts and socks for this occasion. Win or loose, I'm gonna give it all. And if I happen to knock over a few players tomorrow, well they should not have gotten in my way.

And one final note, today on the drive home from work I saw probably the stupidest person in Texas. At some point during the drive, I glanced over at the opposite side of the freeway and saw a man on a Motorcycle. And in the 4 seconds it took him to pass me, I noticed three things. One – He was in the fast lane. Two – He wasn't wearing a helmet. Three – His body was not on top of the bike. He was driving the bike with his body completely on the left side standing on the foot peg/pedal. Maybe it's just me, but that seems just a bit dangerous to be doing in heaving traffic.

Anyways… Good night.

Berney Park S.C. – Week 10

The victories just keep on adding up.

OK, last weeks win was a "freebie". That's a given.  And to be honest, this weeks was just about one as well. The other team did show up this time, however only 8 of their players made it. So with a bit of an unfair advantage, Berney Park S.C. defeated the UNT HSC by a score of 3-1, making us 5-4.

My performance, I came in and played the entire second half. I think for the fist time this season I could say I did O.K. I played Mid-Field this game and held up energy wise for the most part. Instincts are also continuing to get better. Tweaked my ankle slightly but that injury didn't last over 5 minutes.

That's it for now. Later.

Berney Park S.C. – Week 9

Not much to say about this afternoon's Soccer game other than "Our win streak continues"! That's 2 games in a row now. Berney Park S.C. defeated Rolling Hills by a score of – Forfeit. They were obviously so scared to face us on the field, that not one player from their team showed up. Or at least that's what we would like to think. Most likely it was the fact our game was moved this week from 3:15pm to 1:15pm.

I didn't even know our game was moved until my brother showed up at noon and informed me. Oh well, a win is a win no matter how you get it. So thus far for the season, that puts us at 4-4. Once it was clear that our opponents would not be showing up, we ended up playing ourselves in a Shirts Vs Skins match using only half the field so that at least we would totally waste our afternoon.

Also, when our team changed our colors a few weeks back, I went to the future and brought back a pair of nice shiny (and I do mean shiny) Adidas Red Soccer Shoes. Made from advance materials, the very same one's used on the Space Shuttles. Smile everyone!

Berney Park S.C. Week 8

So it's been a while since I wrote about my Soccer Games. Well after 3, yes 3 straight losses and a canceled game due to rain, my team Berney Park finally wins a game beating Novus F.C. by a score of 2-1. This gives us an overall record of 3-4. Personally my performance is basically the same, still lacking that killer instinct.

Speed, I think I'm still the slowest person out there. Stamina, I don't get as tired as much because I don't play the same heavy minutes as I did at the start of the Season. We added a few more players and we now have more Subs available to keep everyone as fresh as possible.

But it does seem Mon-Fri that I'm more tired/sleepy than normal. I used to be able to wake up at 5:30/6:00 a.m. But for the past month I have trouble getting enough sleep. I struggle to get up at 7 a.m. On top of the "Monster" drink I have in the morning to get me through the day, I've started taking "MRI Black Powder" again after work to give me the energy for the Gym. Hopefully this will help get me back right. That or I need a more comfortable mattress.

Cameroon by way of Texas

Yesterday I got the email from our Team Captain that informed us that we are changing our uniform colors. Our "official" team colors were discussed right before the start of the season but we went for some temp colors to start out with because 1, we didn't get our Jerseys until the Second game. And 2, our roster/line-up was complete until the Third game.

Now that all the planets are aligned, we can implement our team colors. We will be keeping our Green Jerseys, but will be ditching the Black Shorts and Whites Socks if favor of Red Shorts and Yellow Socks. So now we will be proudly sporting the colors of the West African country (and Soccer Team) of Cameroon.

In other news, my weekly weigh in was at 195lbs, so I lost the pound I gained last week and am right back at the weight I started at. Also, in addition to upping my workout routine in the past few weeks, yesterday I implemented Leg Weight Lifting. Because just "running" was not doing enough for me.
