To Bee, Or Not To Bee?

Not to Bee!

Of course I am referring to the 2010 Limited Edition "Bumblebee" Camaro that GM recently announced. And I actually thought about it for a while as I'm a Transformers fan from way back when. And as nice as it would be to drive a around in that version of the car, I'll stick with what I originally wanted – All Black. I figure since I'm gonna gut the car over the years anyways, there is no point in buying a car with parts I'm gonna replace. Not to mention I can and will probably buy the Autobot/Deception emblems online. Next week I'll begin the process of deciding on a dealership. I'll send out an email every Chevy Dealer in the D/FW area and see who offers the best/fair deals and who doesn't.

To Be!

"The Resistance"
-  This is the title for the upcoming 5th album from Muse. I can dig it! "I Told You I Was Freaky" – This is the title to the upcoming 2nd album from Flight of the Conchords. I can really dig that!

Not to Be!

Also, seeing on how there is no Championship or Million Dollar Payday on the line, I've decided not to be in the Summer Soccer League which starts this Monday. I'd just rather let my calf muscle fully recover than to take a chance on getting re-injured in a meaningless game and one-legged for the duration of the Summer. As of now, there is no pain when I walk, but the left calf is still stiff and cant' be fully extend so I still have a limp. At the rate I am healing, I should be walking correctly by next Wednesday.

To Be?

Next Saturday the Palm Pre is released and I'm pretty excited about this. This will be my first foray into the Smart Phone World.  I'm already a Sprint Customer and have my "InvisibleShield" kit pre-ordered, so hopefully I can get my hands on the phone next weekend. But I really don't want to wait in a damn line for a phone. I pray that the reported "shortage of phones" is nothing more than a marketing ploy to get costumers in the doors that day. I do however, appear to have one slight advantage. There are 3 Sprint Stores, 2 Wallmarts, 2 Best Buys, and one Radio Shack all within 10 minutes of me. And depending on how everything looks next Friday, I can probably get family and friends (who also want one)  to hit those multiple stores if needed.

Prime is Back!

My Bat Love Continues…

If you haven't noticed by now, my Bat-Fever is at an all time high. I haven't been this excited and hyped about the "Bat-Scene " since 89'. The latest infatuation of mine is the "1:18th Scale 1966 Barris Futura Batmobile Super Elite Edition". Like the  "Hot Toy's Movie Masterpiece 1/6th-scaled Batmoblie"  that I am also lusting over, this premium version of the 66' Batmobile highly detailed and has all of the bells and whistles that the actual car has.

And how awesome is this! The "Tumbler: Autobot Edition" would be the coolest thing ever if this fan concept was ever made.

Transformers – Movie Review

Recommended

If you have seen one Micheal Bay movie then you have seen them all, and Transformers is no exception. Yep, you guessed it. This is a very fun and loud summer movie. It has a lot of action, plenty of laughs, great eye candy, a very robust musical score, and a lackluster story.

Like most Nerd-Flicks, there are two camps: The Casual Movie Fan and The Die Hard Nuts. For the Casual person, you should get a kick out of it (for the above reasons). But for the Transformers Nuts, well there is mild satisfaction. Yes there is plenty of Fan Service, thanks to classic lines and in-jokes. But the Transformers themselves are a bit lacking, and I'm not talking about their designs. I'll save the nitpicking for later. For now, here is the basic the plot.

(spoilers)
Long ago, the planet Cybertron was destroyed by the war between the Autobots and Decepticons. And with the destruction of their planet, they lost the Allspark, the powerful device that gives the Transformers life. Over time, the Transformers search the Galaxy for the Allspark. Eventually the Allspark finds it's way to Earth and Megatron soon follows. Enter Sam Witwicky (Shia LaBeouf) who unknowingly has the location of the Allspark and Megatron on his Great Grandfathers glasses. Fortunately, the Autobots discover his secret before the Decepticons can get him. And now with the Help of Prime and his troops, they must now help Sam to recover the Allspark, which turns out to be a waste anyways because the Government had it all along, including Megatron.

Now for my nitpicks (as a Transformers fan). No Great Prime vs. Megatron battle, it seemed rather short and mostly took place off camera. Not to mention that there was very little Megatron in the film, he was in the last 10 minutes. And why was Hugo Weaving cast as the voice of Megatron? Yes he does have a distinctive voice, but in this movie I couldn't even tell it was him. It should have gone to Frank Welker, the original voice of Megatron. And the biggest problem, the movie is called Transformers, but they are all secondary characters, including Prime. And with the exception of Frenzy, none of the Decepticons had any type of  personality.
(end spoilers)

Now, don't let my stupid nit-picks turn you off from seeing Transformers. Do see it while it is in theaters. It's Fun, Loud, and has Giant Robots. However if you have youngsters be warned. As much as this movie is aimed at a younger audience, there is strong language (everything but the f-bomb is said) and sexual innuendo (reference to masturbation) to go along with the plethora of robot violence. This is a strong PG-13 film.
